Upcoming Matches & Training Sessions

The blues last game of the league season finished with a very convincing 8-2 win against Littleboro as Teddy scored two hat-tricks despite receiving a painful and bloody blow to the face before the game started.

A beautiful pitch behind Hollingsworth Lake greeted us as Lucas, Corey and Teddy passed the ball around waiting for the rest of their team mates to arrive. A quick game of one bounce then turned ugly (I never thought I’d have to write that) as an accidental collision between Corey’s foot and Teddy’s head led to blood spurting out of Ted’s nose like a Geyser!

Luckily the bleeding stopped after good work from Nurse Naomi and her assistant Wayne. Amazingly Teddy was ready to go at kick off just a few minutes later. After some advice from Chris, Teddy was played on the right hand side for the first time since the turn of the year and what a good decision that was he scored four goals in the first 10 minutes! Three of them were almost identical as he picked up the ball on the half way line then ran at their defenders before putting the ball into the bottom left hand corner. His other goal came from a good Corey corner as Ted just helped the in swinger past the keeper.

Littleboro didn’t know what had hit them. After some discussion with the referee, who thought they’d only played 6 minutes (despite my watch saying nearer 12) the first ten minutes came to a close. Lucas and Jacob swapped places in Goal and Isaac came on for Marcus. And it was Master Wride who got the blues only goal in this quarter. Teddy took a quick throw in to Corey who passed it back to Teddy. His cross/shot was turned in by Isaac to make it 5-0. Corey had the blue’s only other real chance of note, hitting a good first time shot from the edge of the area that was turned around the post by their keeper.

Half Time and with game all but won Teddy offered to go in goal and Jacob got a run out up front. With Littleboro pushing everyone up to attack, Jacob found himself in lots of room but passes were either over hit or the goalkeeper denied the baby-faced assassin!

Littleboro did get one back but that seemed to inspire the blues to get back to playing some passing football. Lucas got the ball at the back, beat his man before passing to Marcus. Marcus played it first time straight into the path of Teddy, now playing up front, who never looked like missing. A few minutes later an identikit move on the left led to Teddy’s 6th. Lucas found Isaac on the right who played a lovely cross to Teddy who grabbed his double hat-trick. That was Teddy’s last action of the game as he went off to a standing ovation (well we are always standing, so it sort of was). Isaac moved up front for the last five minutes.

To be fair to Littleboro they never gave up and with their 0-0-5 formation they grabbed another goal late on to make the final score 7-2… or was it. Corey said after the match that he’d scored so if I have missed that one I do apologise to Raw Jr.

All the plaudits rightly went to Ted after the game but he couldn’t take the man of the match trophy home as Hallie had worked her magic again. Deano said he took it back in the shop and the shopkeeper said “not you again!”

A good performance by the blues who go into next week’s cup final in a much more positive mood after our recent defeats. Teddy showed great character and an awful lot of skill to get his goals… I’d say more of the same next week but I don’t want another bloody nose next week!
