The Reds went in to the Semi final missing Conn & Roan who are both away for the Easter break. Having beaten Bridge earlier in the season 3-2 in a tight game we knew it would be a battle again this week.

The team picked itself with only 5 boys available, Alf in net, Oscar defence, Ben & Ruben midfield with Luca up front. The 1st quarter was really tough with Bridge scoring 4 with the impressive no.7 scoring 3 and causing us endless problems.

I told the boys to keep going and not to give up and they did go out and have a go with Ruben & Luca both going close before Luca grabbed a goal after Ben had hit a free kick which the keeper couldn't hold. Half time was 5-1 but again i told the boys to keep going, help each other and play as a team.

The Bridge no.7 continued to cause us problems with the referee very happy to blow his whistle every time we made a tackle which didn't help our cause any. Bridge were the better team but we kept playing with Alf making saves, Oscar kept his head up and the front 3 running themselves into the ground.

Ruben and Ben both had chances to score before a training ground move paid off with a nice pass from Ruben giving Ben an opportunity he wasn't going to miss.

The game finished 9-2 which is the boys biggest ever defeat but they will bounce back because they all have shown a great attitude all season and willingness to learn. Only 3 defeats in nearly 25 matches is a great achievement and myself and all the parents were proud of how they kept going until the end. On to next week!
